TRUCK DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION

Truck driver or lorry drivers are persons who are professionally trained to drive trucks.Heavy licensed truck drivers should have the ability to drive trucks with capacity of more than 3 tonnes.A truck driver should know about the state and federal regulations.Should have the ability to read and rite.He should have clear vision and should not be drunk.They have to carry goods to distant locations and should maintain constant contact with their company through radio or telephone to get instructions for loading or dispatching goods at specified locations.They should maintain a record of the goods transported,checks whether the goods are securely tied.He should obtain signature from customer and collect payment when the goods ar delivered.Should have brief knowledge of the road routes and should have a mechanic knowledge and has a good muscle power to lift goods.He should have the ability to see clearly the things at distance and should have a clear listening skill and should have the ability to drive the vehicle at the prescribed speed only.Truck drivers have good demand in foreign counties like USA and also in countries were there is need for transporting heavy goods to place where there is no water transport facilities.Nowadays there are Truck Drivers School programmes and courses offering truck driving courses.Employment of truck drivers is expected to increase 21 to 35 percent through the year 2008 as the economy grows.In the United States of America, truck drivers are required to have a Commercial Driver's License,and should have reached 21 years of ageA truck driver can get more than 300 dollars a week.Most of the employers in USA,Australia are looking for drivers who have experience.So it is best if you try for jobs abroad after driving trucks in your country for atleast 3 years,so that you will get high salary.Most of the trucks are equipped with satellite systems to help the employers to know the position of their trucks and this facility is shown in websites enabling the customers to know where the goods have reached.So the truck drivers should be efficient and in many countries it is allowed that after 11 hours of driving the driver should take rest of 8 or 10 hours of sleep.Truck driving jobs are getting high demand in India,but when salary is considered the more earning potential will be for jobs in America and Australia.
